The SmartWalker was developed in Canada & is the latest device used for gait training childen with Cerabal Palsy.
This device allows for hands free operation and the greatest opportunity for children to gain as much independence
as possible while exploring their surroundings as never before.
The device has two components; an orthotic bracing system and a wheeled frame. The many features of the walker are
best described at smartwalker.com. Heather Davidson CO is one of the few
orthotistrs in New England trained to fit
& distribute the Smart Walker.
If you think you know someone who may benefit from the Smart Walker please contact
Heather.
The usual procedure is as follows - a measurement form is completed by a physical therapist & a brief history is obtained.
Then an appointment is scheduled at the Westwood office to try out the walker. On completion of a successful evaluation/trial,
insurance authroization is pursued & the walker will be ordered.
For a SmartWalker evaluation please fill out the
form as completely as possible.
